Welcome to Our Lodge

Welcome to Eastern Star Lodge No. 44 website.  masonbig1.gif

As Connecticut Freemasons we embrace the tenets of Friendship, Morality and Brotherly Love. We do this by using the teachings of Freemasonry to better ourselves, our community and each other. At our lodge we make Masons and here at our website we show you our history, activities and schedule of future events.

The Masonic Fraternity does not invite anyone to become a member, instead we wait patiently for the special man to knock on our door and seek admittance. Perhaps your visit here is that "knock" on our outer door.

Feel free to browse our site; investigate us and Freemasonry! See for yourself what we are doing here. We hope this site interests you into becoming a better man and joining the greatest and largest Fraternity in the world.

Connecticut Freemasons: making a difference, here and around the world.

Master’s Message

Brothers………  I began my Term by saying..

“Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass, .... it’s about learning to dance in the rain”

Little did I know that you were ALL such good “dancers”   I can’t thank you enough for the support that you have brought back to OUR Lodge during the first quarter of the year.

We have averaged 17 in the Lodge for all meetings, elected one new Brother who had a fantastic EA Degree in February, with a FULL Lodge room in attendance, had 3 Brothers affiliate with us, and our newly formed Craft Club has had a successful beginning.

Our first joint Lodge Social, supported by ESL, Ionic, Moriah and Wooster Lodges had to be postponed due to weather. The new tentative date is May 30, so look for more information to follow.

Our newest Brother, EA Michael Leisten, will receive his Fellow Craft degree in April and complete his work with the Master Mason Degree in June. Do come, and be a part of his Masonic History and the growth of our Lodge. One of the distinct pleasures that I have had this year is bringing our new Brothers to Light. There is nothing more impressive to the candidates than when“brought to Light”, he discovers a Lodge Room full of support and Friendship. We sure could use your help on the side-lines to welcome them to the Light that we have received and enjoy.

Your continued support in all of this, is what makes it work, and worth doing. Along with this trestle Board for the Second quarter, you have found a flyer for our fund raiser. Please consider supporting YOUR Lodge in this important endeavor so that we can continue to do what we must, should, and want to do. Make copies of the order form for all of your friends and organizations that you belong to and let’s make this a success and be able to fund OUR Lodge properly.

Finally, I have also been emailing an electronic version of this to help control expenses. If you did not get it, I don’t have your email address. PLEASE drop me a note so that I can add you to the list for future announcements’ and important communications. This will also help to reduce the expenses of the Lodge as well. If you would like to receive BOTH, the Paper version AND the Email copy please let me know. Beginning with the Summer & Fall Trestle Board, I will only be mailing the paper version to those that I do not have an email address for, unless you request both.

Remember: We are only Custodians of YOUR Lodge. Without your help and input, it will be just more of the same, and what a shame that would be for lack of a simple phone call or email. Please take the time to send us your thoughts or letter, and a few words of opinion as to what you would like to see for Programs and or suggestions. Remember, it IS your Lodge !

Finally, we will need help on the MM Degree in June. If you have a part you would like to do, or have done before, please let me know.

I am honored and humbled by your trust.

Looking Ahead for the Summer

In the past, our Lodge has not met during the summer months of July and August. I would like to take a poll and see if there is any interest at all of continuing through the summer. I would envision perhaps a cook out at the Lodge, very brief opening and / or perhaps an activity that all could enjoy.  Please take a moment and let me know your thoughts, either by email, letter or at our upcoming meetings.

Last Call

We have reactivated our Lodge website, and though not completed as yet, we have the basics up and running. More will be added shortly, along with published information in the CT Free Masons news. The direct link is:  http://www.easternstarlodge44.net  and you can also access it through the Grand Lodge site.

Finally, I would also ask that if you enjoy doing Ritual, or would like to start, even if only a small part, to please let me know. We will be discussing positions for next year very soon, and the more of our Brothers that become involved, the stronger we will be.

Fraternally, WM Paul
